Ruth Foster Tichenor passed away on a beautiful Sunday morning, Sept. 23, 2012, at her earthly home in Beaver Dam. She entered a more beautiful dwelling to meet her loved ones awaiting her arrival. Ruth was born on Oct. 27, 1918, to the late Jesse William (J.W.) Foster and Lillie D. King Foster.
Ruth was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church for 59 years. She was a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Girls Auxiliary Leader, and Vacation Bible School helper. She rarely missed a prayer meeting or a church service. Ruth was also a member of the Rosine Community Choir. Her children grew up listening to her sing… “How Great Thou Art” …..the morning alarm!
Ruth will be sadly missed by her children Jackie Foster Tichenor, William Lee (Willie) Tichenor, Harold Ross Tichenor, Larry Bruce Tichenor, Carl Brook Tichenor, Betty Ann Johnson, Mary Ruth Beasley, Bessie (Bess) Lynn Ralph. Ruth also helped raise Shelia Foster Quinn and the late Mike Foster, special niece and nephew.
Ruth is also survived by special in-laws Dr. Robert Johnson, Walt Beasley, Paul Ralph, Phyllis Tichenor, Sheila Tichenor, Dee Dee Tichenor and Markeda Tichenor.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Ross (Jack) Tichenor, son Robert (Bob) Warren Tichenor, brothers John, Bill, Kiah, Ray, and Bobby Foster and sisters Annie Laurie Crowe, Isabel Sparks, Margaret Hanks.
Ruth is also survived by 24 grandchildren, Melody Lunsford, Doug Berryman, Sherry Roof, Byron Tichenor, Debbie Gowins, Kathy Gledhill, Billy Tichenor, Sandy Givens, Annie Desmond, April Peech, Stacey Tichenor, Janie Tichenor, Farrah Belhasen, Nikki Riley, Jody Tichenor, Josh Tichenor, Holli Ruth Decker, Henry (Tike) Barton, Robbie Tichenor, Sara Coots, Lauren Jackson, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Asberry, Anthony Stewart and Leeah Ross Graham.
Ruth is also survived by 57 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A service of celebration in honor of her life will be Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church with visitation from noon until the time of service at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Private burial at Tichenor Farm. Service conducted by the beloved retired pastor of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Dr. Glenn Armstrong.
As Ruth was a health and fitness advocate, the family asks in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ohio County Family Wellness Center, Hartford, Ky., or the Ronald McDonald House, Louisville, Ky., in honor of her great grandson, Clay Lunsford.
