Kenneth M. Harrison

In Obituaries by OC Monitor Staff

Kenneth M. Harrison, 87, of Owensboro passed from this life to enter his eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family after finding out two and a half  years ago that his cancer had returned. He was born in Ohio County in the big town of Gasburg to the late Finis Dee and Grace Mae (Muffett) Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Lawrence) Harrison on Feb. 20, 2010, whom he cared for during her long battle with cancer; one brother, Edward Harrison; two sisters, Maxine Baird and Faye Farmer.

Kenneth retired from the Ohio County School System where he touched many young lives through his great knowledge of agriculture and life in general. To know Kenneth was to love him. He became a personal friend to each Hospice personnel that would come to visit him. He always found a common ground with them and was able to talk with them probably much longer than they had the time to stay but he had a way of making a long visit seem like you had just gotten there. For the month that Kenneth had caregivers around the clock, Courtrana, Janetta, Mary and Connie, became close to the man that so many loved. Kenneth would say to each of them, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Kenneth was a member of Southside Church of Christ. Kenneth also became friends with almost every resident of Park Regency where he would faithfully play music every Tuesday with a group of musicians he loved very much.

Kenneth is survived by a sister, Raye Shultz; four nephews, Kenny (Ead) Baird, Barry (Mary) Shultz, Steve Farmer and Scott (Pam) Farmer; two nieces, Barbara Weedman and Debby (Jimmy) Griffin.

The funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Jarrod Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Fordsville.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
