Willard Ralph “Billy” Daugherty died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born in Ohio County to the late Amos and Vonnie Embry Daugherty and was a tobacco farmer.
He enjoyed raising big gardens and leaving vegetables on friends porches. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Daugherty, and three sisters, Barbara Daugherty, Kay Reardon and Betty Ann Daugherty.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lela Faye Burden Daugherty; one son, James “Toby” Daugherty and his wife Sandy of Cromwell; three grandchildren, Aimee West, Britney Daugherty and Kaitlyn Daugherty; three great-grandchildren, Haylee, Kendyl and Ava; one brother, Lowel Daugherty; seven sisters, Imogene Bratcher, Doris Wilson, Wanda Jones, Henrietta Crowder, Almie Devine, Goldie Johnson and Patsy Casey.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Jay Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Green River Cemetery in Cromwell. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9 p.m. until funeral time on Sunday at the funeral home.
