William Ray Matthews, 70, of McHenry, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at his home. He was born Feb. 23, 1942, in Equality, Ky., to the late Alvey and Effie Bozarth Matthews.
He was a member of Independence Baptist Church in McHenry and was a retired coating coordinator at Nestaway.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Matthews, Roy V. Embry and Charles Embry and two sisters, Juanita Pruitt and Wanda Embry.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lynn Harris Matthews of McHenry; two sons, Chris Matthews and wife Sondra of McHenry and Michael Matthews and wife Melanie of Beaver Dam; four brothers, Vernie Matthews of Hartford, Eugene Matthews of Henderson, Charles Matthews of Henderson and Randall Matthews of Henderson; one sister, Viola Casey of Hartford and three grandchildren, Lauren Matthews, Lilly Matthews and Macallister Matthews.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. James Hohimer and Rev. Jerry Toler officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the Funeral Home.
