Hubert Ray ‘Hugh’ Leach

Hubert Ray “Hugh” Leach, 78 of Richland, Ind., went peacefully to heaven on Friday, April 27, 2012, surrounded by his six loving children. He was born in the Horton community of Ohio County to the late Willis and Lucy Smith Leach and had sixteen brothers and sisters, eight of whom preceded him in death.

Hubert raised his family in McClean, Ill., retired to West Union, Ohio, and came back to Richland to be close to family.

Hubert mastered many trades in his life but carpentry and being an equipment operator were his first loves. While in West Union he was Commander of VFW Post 3400, Commander of the Adam’s County Honor Guard, DAV Commander Chapter 71 and Transport Coordinator for Volunteer Drivers for Veterans.

He is survived by Dona Stuart Lawson Leach; his children, Sandra (Stan) Blanchard of Richland, Gary (Maryanna) Leach of Bloomington, Ill., Phillip Leach of Bloomington, Ill., Karen (Rich) Napier of New Albany, Ind., Kevin (Marcy) Leach of Bloomington, Ind., and Stacy (Dave) McCaddon of Normal, Ill. He is also survived by four brothers, Willis Leach Jr. of Bowling Green, Ky., Pastor Logan Leach of Beaver Dam, Charles Leach of Morgantown, Ky., and Ercie Leach of Charleston, S.C., and four sisters, Joan Hobdy of Beaver Dam, Beverly Hiatt of Lake Charles, La., Barbara Sylvester of Indianapolis and Sue Leach of Indianapolis, as well as seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, at William L. Danks Funeral Home. Burial and Military Honors will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the Funeral home.
