Walter R. Likens, 80, of Beaver Dam passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born November 8, 1931, in McHenry to the late Labern H. Likens Sr. and Dora T. Hudson Likens.

He was of Methodist Faith, a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Highland, Ind., Masonic Lodge #578 F&AM. Walter worked as a diesel mechanic for 27 years at LTV in East Chicago, Ind., and co-owned Linda’s House of Carhartt with his wife for 21 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Labern H. Likens Sr. and Dora T. Hudson Likens; two sisters, Wilma Porter and Margaret Ashby and one brother Labern “Pee Wee” Likens Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Edwards Likens of Beaver Dam; two daughters, Candy (Michael) Conway of Berea, Ky., and Cindy Warga of Elkhart, Ind.; one brother, Billy Likens of Georgia; five grandchildren, Steven “Beau” Weeks, Linda Weeks, Michael Warga, Daniel Warga and Stephanie Weeks and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Gary Hines officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the Funeral Home.
