BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Charles Edward “Eddie” Ashby Jr., passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at Ohio County Healthcare. He was born June 6, 1942, in Morgantown, Kentucky, to the late Charles Edward “Chief” Ashby Sr. and Wanda Allen.

Mr. Ashby retired from Peabody Coal Company and owned Ashby Trucking Company. He was happiest when operating heavy equipment, spending the afternoon on the lake, riding his motorcycle, watching Gunsmoke or listening to Willie’s Roadhouse.

Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Verdie Ashby; wife, Brenda K. Teague Ashby; two brothers, Jimmy Ashby and Billy Ashby; and one sister, Cheryl Walden.

Survivors include two children, Tiffany (Bobby) Curtis, of Beaver Dam, and Trent Ashby (Chandra Evans), of Beaver Dam; two grandsons, Dylan Trent Curtis (fiancée Emilee McCreary) and Derek Cole Curtis; one granddaughter-at-heart, Alexandria Schneider; one great-grandson, Colsen Lane Curtis; two brothers, John (Joanne) Ashby and Mickey (Sharon) Haven; and three sisters, Donna, Sue and Patricia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Jeff Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
