HARTFORD, Ky. — The Ohio County Detention Center is warning residents to be aware of a phone scam going around the area.
According to the OCDC Facebook page, a staff member actually received a call claiming to be from the detention center. The scammer is calling the family members of people in the detention center. The scammer tells the family member that they can pay a certain amount of money to have their family member released or to be placed on home incarceration.
The OCDC will never call you to set up payment for an inmate’s release or home incarceration.
If you receive one of these calls, do not send any money or give out any personal information. You can find bond information on the OCDC website or call the OCDC at 270-298-4455 to verify bond information.
