OHIO COUNTY, Ky. — Teresa Ann Woosley passed away shortly after celebrating her 69th birthday on Aug. 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at Ohio County Healthcare in the care of Hospice. She was born in Greenville, Kentucky, to the late Jennie Mae Luckett Shemwell and the late John Edwin Shemwell.

Teresa was a retired nurse practitioner and was known throughout the community as a dedicated and passionate medical provider. Her patients and colleagues admired not only her medical expertise but also her genuine ability to listen, comfort and heal. She truly loved her profession and all of the relationships she formed over the years.

Aside from her career, Teresa had a lifelong love of learning. If she wasn’t working, you could find her at home reading from her enormous book collection. She loved books from all genres, but her favorites included historical fiction, science fiction and mythology. Teresa’s favorite things to do included shopping trips with her granddaughters, antique shopping with her sister to add to her ever-growing glassware collection and searching for Snoopy and Pioneer Woman collectibles for her daughter.

She was a generous and selfless woman who loved making others happy. Teresa’s favorite role in life was being a grandma, and it was evident to anyone who knew her because she was always talking about her grandkids, their achievements and how much she adored them. Her granddaughters lovingly gave her the nickname G-ma, which quickly became a favorite.

In addition to her parents, Teresa was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 40 years, David Clark Woosley; her firstborn child and only son, Michael James Woosley; grandparents, Martin and Mamie Luckett and Edwin and Robbie Ann Shemwell; stepdad, Kelley Rhoades; stepmom, Sharon Shemwell; step-grandmother, Irene Shemwell; mother and stepfather-in-law, Patricia and Len Hillard; father-in-law, Malcolm Woosley; brother-in-law, Ron Hillard; sister-in-law, Marilyn Woosley; and a very special great-uncle, James Luckett.

Those left to cherish and honor her memory is her daughter, Kimberly Lynn Sampson; son-in-law, Richard Everett Bechtel; granddaughters, Alyssa Jade Sampson, Pyper Skye Bechtel, Baylee Star Bechtel, and Autumn Moon Bechtel; sister, Gwen Hillard; brother, Tim Shemwell; sister-in-law, Sandra Woosley; sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Barry Gilstrap; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

The celebration of life to honor Teresa will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the City of Beaver Dam Building, 200 N. Broad St., Beaver Dam, KY 42320.
