FORDSVILLE, Ky. — John Dee Meador, 82, of Fordsville, died Aug. 29, 2025, at 10:53 a.m. Following a recent liver cancer diagnosis, he passed peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones.

Born June 10, 1943, in Askin, Kentucky, he was a U.S. Navy Seabee veteran, a tool and die maker, and a member of Pleasant Grove Masonic Lodge.

Known for his honesty and for the stories he loved to tell, John will be remembered with deep respect and affection.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arkley and Myrtle, and brothers Carroll, Bill, and Joe Meador.

He was married 61 years to Hazel (McManaway) Meador and was the loving father of Bruce (Ramona) Meador, of Georgetown, Indiana, Connie (Matt) Evans, of Sidney, Illinois, and Caroll (Belinda) Meador, of Fordsville. He leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his brother, Bob Meador.

Funeral services will be held at Geary Funeral Home of Fordsville at 11am Tuesday, September 2nd, with burial to follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 1, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
