OWENSBORO, Ky. — Sharon Kay Sweet, 69, of Owensboro, passed away Aug. 5, 2025, at UofL Health Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born Feb. 4, 1956, to the late Marvin and Stella Robinson.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Sharon retired as a revenue officer with the Internal Revenue Service after 35 years. She loved golf, participating in charitable events and UofL basketball.

Even though she had no children of her own, Sharon loved her nieces and nephews with all of her heart and cherished her family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Sweet.

She is survived by her sister, Carol (Mickey) Taylor, of Owensboro; nieces and nephew, Amanda (Timmy) Bittel, of Owensboro, Kevin (Melanie) Clark, of Owensboro, Bethanie (Brad) Cantrell, of Louisville; great-nieces and -nephews, Kelsey (Max) Boswell, Kendall Bittel, Olivia Clark, Westin Clark, and Stella Clark; great-great-nieces and -nephew Addison, Raylee, and Malcolm Boswell; and numerous cousins.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Owensboro Friday, Aug. 8, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fordsville, Kentucky.
