OLATON, Ky. — Cecil Paxton Monroe, 82, of Olaton, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025. He was born on Aug. 8, 1942, in Rosine, Kentucky, to Sammie Monroe and Mercedes Logston Monroe.
Cecil was a man of deep faith and dedicated his time to serving the Lord. Over the years, he served the church in many capacities including pastor, assistant pastor, district youth pastor, administrated elder, Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and usher.
He worked as a concrete finisher beginning in 1971 and eventually owned his own company. Prior to that, he worked as a pipe fitter and held factory jobs.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby sister, Brenda, and his brother, Charles Monroe.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Orpha Monroe, and their six children, Sharon Monroe Horn (Odell), of Richmond, Kentucky, Keith Monroe, of Dundee, Kentucky, Debbie Monroe Luttrell (Darren), of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Stephanie Monroe, of Jacksonville, Florida, Jason Monroe (Amy), of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Christopher Monroe (Kristi), of Beaver Dam. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Michael Decker and Pastor James Crump officiating. Friends may visit with Cecil’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
