**UPDATE** LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service in Louisville has extended the Heat Advisory for Ohio County and much of the area. The Heat Advisory is in effect now through 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30.
According to the NWS, a Heat Advisory continues through Wednesday evening due to afternoon heat index readings topping out in the 100 to 105 degree range. The only relief will be in the form of isolated showers and thunderstorms that will feature heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
