MORGANTOWN, Ky. — Ruth “Pat” Clark Fields, 89, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at her residence in Morgantown. Pat, as she was affectionately known, graced this earth with her presence after being born in Butler County, Kentucky on Feb. 24, 1936, to her loving parents Wavy and Duma Jane Daugherty Clark.
Pat’s life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and commitment to her family, whom she loved with a boundless heart. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Robert Lee Fields, with whom she shared not only a life but also the toils and joys of co-owning Fields Farms in Butler and Ohio counties. Together, they labored side by side, turning the soil and nurturing their land, building a legacy of hard work and dedication that would flourish for generations.
Her life was marked by the love she had for her two sons, Steve Fields and his wife, Cynthia, of Cromwell, Kentucky, and Mike Fields and his wife, Melinda, of Morgantown. Pat’s role as a mother was one she held with grace and pride, raising her boys to be men of character and strength. Her love extended to her four grandchildren, Brent Fields and his wife, Rebecca, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Clint Fields, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jordan and Mikayla Fields, of Morgantown. She was also blessed to witness the joy of her three great-grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Fields, of Bowling Green, and Ember Fields, of Nashville.
Pat was also preceded in death by her two brothers, James Curtis and Clifford Ray Clark.
Pat was a member of Belmont General Baptist Church where she found solace and strength in her church community. Her kindness and wisdom touched many, and her selfless nature was evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Pat’s legacy is also carried on by several nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember her for the lessons of love and compassion she imparted.
Her interests were a reflection of her love for life. Pat found joy in traveling, exploring the wonders of creation, and making memories with her loved ones. Pat’s presence could light up a room, and her friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure in her community.
