Heat Advisory issued for Ohio County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Heat Advisory for Ohio County. The Heat Advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. Sunday, July 20, until 8 p.m. Sudnay, July 20.

According to the NWS, heat index values up to 108 are expected in portions of south central Indiana and north central, northwest, and south central Kentucky.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

In addition, scattered thunderstorms are expected Saturday evening. Torrential rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds are expected with any storms.

Rounds of thunderstorms will be possible Sunday evening through Tuesday. Thunderstorms will be capable of producing torrential rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning. Heavy rainfall rates may lead to localized flash flooding.

Very hot and humid conditions are expected Wednesday and Thursday, with heat indices above 100 to 105 at times.
