BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Michael W. Cox, 79, of Beaver Dam, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, surrounded by his family at Ohio County Healthcare. He was born Jan. 29, 1946, in McHenry, Kentucky, to the late Troy Cox and Sibyl Langford Cox.
Mike retired from Tennessee Valley Authority as a gas and diesel mechanic in preventive maintenance. He also worked for Rand McNally as a printing press operator and was a member of Cromwell Community Methodist Church.
Mike was a 1964 graduate of Hartford High School with National Honors Society recognition. He was a wealth of knowledge, watching and learning anything about history, enjoyed touring the United States on his motorcycle and was the family handyman.
Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Glenn Russell Cox, Robert Cox and Thomas Cox; mother- and father-in-law, Belvin and Corrine Coots; two sisters-in-law, Jerri Cox and Shirley Cox; brother-in-law, Robert L. Bryant; and nephew, Cary D. Cox.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 60 years, Colleen Coots Cox, of Beaver Dam; two sisters-in-law, Jean Cox, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and Janet Bryant, of Cromwell, Kentucky; granddaughter, Sierra (Raymond) Curry, with Hampton on the way; nephews and nieces, Jason (Pam) Bryant, of Beaver Dam, Jamie (Lisa) Bryant, of Beaver Dam, Barry (Sue) Cox, of Morgantown, Kentucky, Celeste (Danny) Robinson, of Lawrenceburg, Phillip (Crystal) Cox, of Willisburg, Kentucky, Belinda Headen, of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Alan (Donna) Cox, of Cottonwood, Arizona, Becky (Michael) Stoppenback, of Wisconsin, and Lori Cox, of Bloomington, Indiana; as well as many great- and great-great-nephews, -nieces, and cousins; and his fur baby, Ellie Mae.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with nephew, Phillip Cox and great-nephew, Colby Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
