Month-long closure planned on KY 136 in Ohio County

MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Motorists in Ohio County should anticipate a month-long closure at Tom’s Branch Creek along KY 136 corridor, also known as Livermore Road, beginning Monday, June 2.

The closure is scheduled for 30 days, during which a contractor working for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will replace a concrete culvert that carries the roadway over the creek.

During this period, a marked detour will utilize U.S. 431, KY 85, KY 69, and U.S. 231.

The KYTC is in the middle of a $9.6 million, multi-year project that will see the replacement of bridges over Stillhouse Branch, Hanley Creek, Barnett Creek, Toms Branch, Little No Creek and No Creek along with grading and drainage upgrades throughout the corridor.

Temporary bridges are being utilized at multiple places throughout this project, but such a structure was not feasible at Tom’s Branch Creek.

The No Creek bridge will close in late 2025 with an anticipated reopening planned for April 2026. The contractor then plans to complete work required to transition traffic to the new Barnett Creek bridge, which began construction earlier this year.

Next summer, the Stillhouse Branch will be closed for around a month to install a new arch culvert bridge. There will be a marked detour, as installing a temporary structure is not possible at this location.

The completion date for the entire project is Oct. 2026. The project schedule is subject to change due to weather and other factors.
