LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Flood Watch for Ohio County. The Flood Watch is in effect until 3 a.m. Saturday, May 17.

According to the NWS, a significant severe weather outbreak is possible late this afternoon into this evening. All severe hazards are possible, including damaging winds, very large hail, and tornadoes, some of which could be strong.

Rounds of showers and thunderstorms containing torrential rainfall will also impact the region through tonight. Some locations may receive multiple rounds of heavy rainfall, leading to high water and flash flooding.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
