HARTFORD, Ky. — William Ray “Bill” Lewis, 82, of Hartford, passed away May 10, 2025, at the Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky. He was born Dec. 29, 1942, in Centertown, Kentucky, to the late George Thomas and Viola Byrd Lewis.
Bill retired from the U.S. Army with a rank of CW4 where he served 23 years. He was stationed in Germany two times and served two tours in Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Allen Lewis.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Barbee Lewis; daughter, Christina Dixon (Chuck); five grandchildren, Charles, Christopher, Cody, Ashley and Tiffany; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Schroader; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, with Dr. Roger Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Centertown Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
