SMYRNA, Tenn. — Rose Katherine “Kathy” York, 72, of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025, with her family by her side at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Kathy was born Saturday, Jan. 24, 1953, in McHenry, Kentucky, to the late Harry Ellis Everley and Rose Mardell Allen Everley.
She and her husband owned and operated York Disposal. Kathy was of Baptist faith. Kathy was a member of the Lizzy Ford Eastern Star Chapter and served as worthy matron.
Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Lee York Jr.; two brothers, Chris Everley and Tony Everley; mother-in-law, Margaret Burton Butler; and sister-in-law, Becky Blankenship.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 56 years, Jerry “Butch” York, of Smyrna, Tennessee; daughter, Marsha (Robbie) Mackie, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Kyle (Kristen) York, Summer Fible, Brandon Mackie, Cameron Mackie, and Brittney Mackie; three great-grandchildren, Prestin, Kyden and Kayley; three siblings, Steve Everley, of McHenry, Deloris Everley, of McHenry and Sandy (Brad) Cardwell, of Morgantown, Kentucky; brother-in-law, William “Beano” (Jane) York, of Murfreesboro; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Matt Alsman officiating. Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry, Kentucky. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral Tuesday at the funeral home.
