WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carlie Thomas Wester Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and “little” brother who left this world on April 17, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on July 6, 1953, in Greenville, Kentucky, to the late Finley and Edna Wester. Carlie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Carlie was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Edna Mae Wester, for 10 years. Their partnership was a testament to true love, marked by unwavering support and shared dreams.
As a father, Carlie was a guiding light to his children, Della Vanover (David), Carlie Wester II (Penny), Laura Wester, and Jimmy Wester. He instilled in them the values of kindness, integrity, and hard work. His wisdom shaped their lives in countless ways, and his legacy will continue to inspire them for generations to come.
As a grandfather and great-grandfather, Carlie brought joy and warmth to the lives of his seven grandchildren, J.W., Sierra, Gage (Emily), Autumn, Lilyan, Elizabeth, and Marianna, and his three great-grandkids, Connor, Haisley, and Niko. He delighted in sharing stories, offering sage advice, and creating lasting memories. His playful spirit and generous heart made him a beloved figure in their lives, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Carlie was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He also had a passion for NASCAR where he was a Kevin Harvick fan, football where he was a Dallas Cowboys fan, and WWE, which he pursued with enthusiasm. He was known for his home improvement skills and loved to share his passions with those around him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae; his son, Jimmy; and brother-in-law, Bill Daugherty.
He is survived by his children, Della, Carlie, and Laura; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Bess Daugherty; nephews and niece, Thomas, Ian, and Raegan; and a host of friends who will miss his warmth and wisdom. Carlie leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
A graveside ceremony will be held at a later date at Echols Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Preborn in his honor: preborn.com/preborn-give/.
Rest in peace, dear Carlie. Your memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all
