HARTFORD, Ky. — Stephen Anthony Sorrels, 64, passed away April 18, 2025, at the home of his dear friend, Phyllis Johnson. He was born Oct. 4, 1960, to the late Tornow and Bernice Sorrels.
Steve worked at Royal Crown Bottling and Citizens Bank for many years. He loved the Lord, his family and coffee. He had a passion and gift for music and could often be found playing his guitar, fiddle or mandolin and singing in local churches and events. Steve served as a pastor, was a proud member of McHenry Masonic Lodge No. 800 and attended Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Ann Sorrels, Carmella McCarty and Jackie Gipson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Brenda Whitaker and Venita Crumes; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; and his loving best friend, Phyllis Johnson.
Services will be held Friday, April 25, at 1 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Doug Tarrence officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A private family burial will follow at Leach Cemetery in Horse Branch at a later date.
