HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Orville W. “Britches” Baize, 74, of Horse Branch, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born Saturday, July 22, 1950, in Cromwell, Kentucky, to the late Kenneth Baize and Reba Hocker Baize.
Britches was a retired coal miner. He proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Maiden Baize; grandson, Jakob Baize; and sister, Lucille Daugherty.
Survivors include his son, Richard David (Lisa) Baize, of Horse Branch; two grandsons, Zak (Erin) Baize and Kenneth Kyler (Ivy) Baize; five great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jayce, Jaxton, Jozie and Jebadiah; three brothers, Bud (Nenie) Baize, of Kronos, Kentucky, Tommy (Phyllis) Baize, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and Garnett (Sue) Baize, of Beaver Dam; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at William L. Danks Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Daugherty and Dr. Ryan Himes officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Horse Branch, Kentucky. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
