WHITESVILLE, Ky. — Galen Lee Westerfield, 72, of Whitesville, passed away March 22, 2025, at Glasgow State Nursing Facility after a 13 year battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born Feb. 24, 1953, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Leonard E. and Thelma “Ted” Hickey Westerfield.

Galen was a member of Bells Run Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Ohio County High School. He retired from the United States Air Force as a master sergeant after over 20 years of service. His nickname was “Bull” due to his brute strength. He loved being outside hunting, fishing, swimming, bicycling or just piddling around.

Those left to cherish his memory are three sons, Travis (Sarah), of Lexington, Kentucky, Joshua (April), of Owensboro, and Benjamen (Jessica), of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Alyce, Noah, Levi, Owen, Ethan, Riley, Parker, Brady and Jorden; three sisters, Bonnie (Mike) Riley, of Owensboro, Donna (Alvey) Braden, of Whitesville, Sandy (Larry) Scott, of Beaver Dam; brother, Leonard Milton Westerfield, of Utica, Kentucky; along with four nieces and four nephews.

Service will be Thursday, March 27, at 1 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. John Cummins officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bells Run Cemetery.
