MORGANTOWN, Ky. — William Roger Gaskey, known affectionately as Roger by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Born on Monday, Dec. 21, 1942, in Butler County, Kentucky, Roger’s life was a testament to his enduring love for his family, his community, and his passions.
Roger’s professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. He retired from Gary Brothers and Rinker Materials after 33 years of service. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil R. and Rosie Jane Johnson Gaskey; his brother, Virgil Gaskey; his sister, Louise Gaskey; and his beloved nephews, Ricky Gaskey, Tommy Bratcher; and niece, Reda Duncan.
His legacy, however, continues through his devoted wife of 55 years, Donna Belcher Gaskey, whom he married on Feb. 4, 1970. Together they raised a loving family that includes five sons, Jason Gaskey, of Morgantown, Dustin Gaskey (Ashley), of Auburn, Kentucky, Jimmy Gaskey, of Morgantown, Scott Gaskey (Rhonda), of Cromwell, Kentucky, and Donald Wayne Hunt, of Bowling Green.
