BEAVER DAM, Ky. — The Beaver Dam Police Department is warning residents of a familiar phone scam going around the area again involving law enforcement.
According to the BDPD, people have received calls from a person identifying themselves as “Officer Phelps” or another officer with the BDPD saying there is a warrant for your arrest. The scammer then asks the potential victim to make a payment over the phone to take care of this issue. This is a scam, don’t fall for it.
The BDPD, as well as any other law enforcement agency, will never ask you to make a payment over the phone.
