LEITCHFIELD, Ky. — Bro. Jackie Dean Ferguson, 84, of Leitchfield, passed away at his home on Feb. 25, 2025. He was born in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, April 6, 1940, to the late Enus and Modie Hall Ferguson.
Jackie lived his life devoted to his faith in God, his family and and his work with wayward boys as a youth recreational director at Green River Juvenile Detention Center. He was proud to have served his country as an Army Sgt. Ranger in the 82nd Airborne All-American.
He will be remembered for his kind, loving heart and love of basketball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Lynne Ferguson; one son, Stephen H. Ferguson; great-grandson, Abram Monroe; great-granddaughter, Avery Blankenship; and five brothers, Jesee Ferguson, Bill Ferguson, Carl Ferguson, Robert Ferguson, and Oscar Ferguson.
Survivors include his five children, Steffani (Howard) Shartzer, Christy Ferguson (Angel Perales), Amy (Lloyd) Summers, and Brandon Ferguson; five grandchildren, Sarah (Brandon) Brown, Aaron (Brittany) Monroe, Alex Ferguson, Raven Ferguson, and Brodie Summers; eight great-grandchildren, Gypsy Brown, Addison, and Andrew Quisenberry, Lillian and Jameson Shartzer, and McKenzie, Jackson and Sadie Kay Blankenship; and his brother, Donald Ferguson.
Services will be Friday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, with Shayne Ferguson and Bro. Howard Shartzer officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, Feb. 27, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
