OLATON, Ky. — Larry Dennis Whitely, 78, of Olaton, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 12, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on Dec. 25, 1946, in Olaton. He was married to the love of his life, Patricia Faye Whitely, for 57 years before his passing.
Larry was a proud Navy Veteran, serving as a Seabee for two 9-month tours in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971. He was a godly man and served as a deacon at Olaton Baptist Church for 37 years.
Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, Dallice and Emmett Whitely; son, Larry Steven Whitely; sisters, Wilma(Drexel) Cummings, Laverne(Sonny) Wilson, Mary(Pill) Ford, Eva(Lewis)Farris, and Anna(WH) Keith; brother, Clifford Whitely; and great-grandson, Ezra Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Faye Whitely; daughter, Angie (Bob) Vance; son, Shawn Whitely; daughter-in-law, Dana(Terry) Baggarly; grandchildren, Brent (Gwen) Vance, Lukas (Lainey) Whitely, Logan (Shelby) Whitely, Adam Vance, Rhett (Morgan) Baggarly, and Logan Baggarly; great-grandchildren, Evie and Bear Vance, Lane and Larson Whitely, Hudson and Hadlee Baggarly, Addi Jones and Izzy Thompson; and one sister, Brenda (Butch) Ford.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Bro. Nathan Bunch and Bro. Butch Ford officiating. Burial will be in McGrady Creek Cemetery in Olaton. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. until funeral time on Monday at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed by the Ohio County Honor Guard.
