LITTLE BEND, Ky. — Martha Anderson, 85 years young, of Little Bend, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at UK Bluegrass Hospice in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born Friday, Aug. 11, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Joy Durwood Read and Edith Taylor Read.
Mrs. A retired after 30 years of service from Preformed Line Products but devoted most of her time to her passion for outdoor activities such as camping, gardening, and traveling with friends. She was a girl scout leader to older girls inspiring self-reliance and confidence in the next generation.
Over the years she was a loving caretaker to many cats and a few dogs, too. In recent years she was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the birds out her window. Mrs. A was smart, stubborn, and sassy.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and pets. She was very generous to many charities.
Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Anderson, and best friend, Marianne Barchman.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Mike Poole; grandchildren, Rebekah Poole (Dan) Jones, Sarah Joy Poole, and Justyn Poole; great-grandchildren, Vincent Valerio, Joe Read Valerio, Nicholas Jones, and Savanna Taylor Jones; best ever dog, Rocky; and cats, Pusskat, Bob, Snickers, Pickle Juice, and Maxx.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Burial will follow in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Butler County, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mrs. A’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
