SCOTTDALE, Ga. — James Neil Ragland, 49, of Scottdale, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on Aug. 21, 1975. He was the son of Kenneth Neil Ragland and Jennie James Ragland.
Neil was a 1993 graduate of Apollo High School and a member of Owensboro Christian Church. For the last 25 years, he lived in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was self-employed.
Neil was preceded in death by his father; his paternal grandparents, Thurman and Mabel Porter Ragland; his maternal grandparents, Donald James and Beulah Reeves, James Hajek; and his beloved “Papa” Clement Hajek.
He is survived by his mother, Jennie James Ragland, of Owensboro, Kentucky; two very close friends, Craig Ashmore and Alex Clabo; and his companion, Skipp, his dog.

A memorial service for James will be held Monday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Advantage Funeral Home And Cremation Services, 500 Harbins Road, Lilburn, GA 30047.
