Lowell ‘Doodle’ Winfred Smith

HARTFORD, Ky. — Lowell “Doodle” Winfred Smith, 72, of Hartford, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at The Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky. He was born on March 6, 1952, in Greenville, Kentucky, the son of the late Floyd William and Mildred Drake Smith.

Doodle was a truck driver for his family’s business, Smith Brothers Lumber & Logging. He was a machine operator and enjoyed fixing small engines.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Bertha Sue Edmonds, Donald Ray Smith, Ester O’dell Smith and Tony Curtis Smith.

Left to honor Doodle’s memory are his siblings, Jerry Wayne Smith (Mildred), William “Bubby” Lester Smith (Wilma), Sharon Kay Wilkerson (Ray), Laura Larrane Crafton, Scott Brady Smith (Beth) and Deborah Dawn Edmonds Whitaker (Johnny); one stepson, Roman Dudenski and his family; one step-daughter, Felicia Dudenski and her family; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Hartford Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Island Community Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
