HARTFORD, Ky. — Delbert Gray, 101, of Hartford, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2025.

He retired after 50 years of ministry with Church of God of Prophecy serving many churches in the state of Kentucky. He was a World War II veteran serving from 1943-1946 in the United States Army.

Delbert was an avid runner and was well-known in the Owensboro area for 5K and 10-mile races. He had lots of trophies for first place finishes. He also became a well-respected member of the Ohio County Wellness Center for his commitment to regular exercise and physical fitness.

Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Robena Leach Gray, and daughter, Sharon Kay Gray.

Surviving family include his daughter, Anna Faye (Wayne) Rickard, of Gallatin, Tennessee; two grandsons, Jason Rickard, of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Jared (Terri) Rickard, of Gallatin, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Hayden (Angela) Rickard, Hilary (Andrew) Boston, both of Glasgow, Calvin Gray Rickard, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dawson Rickard, Monica Rickard, and Meredith Rickard, all of Gallatin; and three great-great grandchildren, of Glasgow.

Private services were held Saturday, Jan. 18, at Sunnyside Cemetery with Delbert’s pastor, Rev. Bobby Lott officiating and full military honors by Ohio County Honor Guard. William L. Danks Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
