BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Billy Russell Burden, 88, of Beaver Dam, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, with his family by his side at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1936, in McHenry, Kentucky, to the late Edgar Burden and Zona Smith Burden.
Bill was a member of Horse Branch General Baptist Church, owner of A&A Auto Parts for 20 years and was a heavy equipment operator for Southwind Coal for 20 years.
Through the years he also held many positions in the community such as serving on the Ohio County Fiscal Court for 19 years, magistrate for 13 years, deputy judge executive for six years, Chairman of the Republican Party, Chairman of the Ohio County Water District as well as serving on their board of directors and chairman of the Rosine Association, chairman of the Rosine Cemetery Board, and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lula B. (Haven) Burden; son, Eric Burden; grandson, Jed Bryant; and siblings, Lucille Baize, Mildred Barbee, Louis Burden, Judy Krise; and infants, Ray and Jesse Burden.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his fiancée, Shirley Lindsey, of Beaver Dam; two daughters, Connie (James) Tooley, of Cromwell, Kentucky, and Kris (Stuart) Martin, of Fishers, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Carol Burden, of Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Valerie (Greg) Peach, Michael Horn, Jessica (Edward) Smallwood, and Macy Martin; four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Lincoln, Cayden, and Sebastian, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at William L. Danks Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Tarrence officiating. Burial will follow in Rosine Cemetery in Rosine, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Bill’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
