HARTFORD, Ky. — Ricky Wayne Filback left this earthly home on Nov. 24, 2024. He was born Feb. 5, 1955, in Hartford, to Raymond and Eadith Pharris Filback.

Ricky was a proud member of the Cedar Grove Church Family.

Ricky began working at a young age in a sawmill before working as a coal miner for many years. He then continued his education to become a registered nurse. He served in the medical field until retirement.

Ricky lived his life to the fullest, one could always be witness to a “Rickyism” for a good laugh. He was an avid UK basketball fan, and literally lived and breathed UK Blue. Ricky also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers.

He was very proud of his home place. Ricky was the second generation to call it home. He was heard to say, “I have the best views of Ohio County from my front porch.” Ricky enjoyed watching the cattle graze and seeing the calves play in the fields. His best days were filled with visits from the kids and grandkids. Whether it be fishing, swimming or ranger rides, it all made him smile.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Bridget Boyd Filback; a sister, Jeannie Filback (Steve) Geary; his sons, Jarrod (Brandy) Filback, Wes (Sabrina) Lake, and Zach (Tasha) Lake; 11 grandchildren, Kevin McCormick, Elizabeth Filback, Coltin Filback, Baileigh Lake, Harper Lake, Sydnee Gledhill, Justice Daugherty, Colby Daugherty, Kylie Lake, Keirstyn Lake, and Lincoln Lake; and six great-grandchildren, two on the way, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Cedar Grove Church (8086 Cedar Grove Road, Olaton, KY 42361) with Bro. Phillip David Embry and Bro. Larry Embry officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Ricky’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Grove Church and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church.
