Actor/Musician Randall Franks to perform at Rosine Barn Jamboree celebrating Bill Monroe anniversary

ROSINE, Ky. — A special performance by former NBC and CBS star Randall Franks, “Officer Randy Goode” of TV’s “In the Heat of the Night,” will be part of the Rosine Barn Jamboree this Friday, Nov. 22. The show begins at 6 p.m. and Franks will appear at 8 p.m. The Rosine Barn Jamboree is at The Rosine Barn at 8225 Blue Moon of Kentucky Highway in Rosine.

“I look forward to joining many of my old friends and making some new ones as I celebrate my 40th Anniversary as a Blue Grass Boy in Bill Monroe’s hometown,” Franks said. “I will be sharing music and comedy from my latest CD as well as some of the favorites I performed while touring with Bill.”

Franks joined the Blue Grass Boys in 1984 before reaching international fame as a TV star. He has been honored as a Bluegrass Legend by the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the state of Kentucky, the Grand Ole Opry and other bluegrass entities for his contributions to Monroe’s legacy. Franks is the reigning Musician of the Year for fiddle which he received at the Grand Ole Opry House, Oct. 27, at the Josie Music Awards. His musical stylings have been heard in 150 countries and by more than 25 million Americans. His musical career boasts 23 album releases, 20 singles, and over 200 recordings with various artists from various genres.

The award-winning journalist and author of eleven books focused on a devotional in his latest book called, “Seeing Faith.”

In addition to touring internationally, the former member of Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys, makes special appearances raising funds for the Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship for the Share America Foundation, Inc.

For 30 years, Franks has also been a mainstay in television, appearing regularly on television and in movies. In his latest starring role, he portrays “Capt. Robert Shields” in the American Revolution set film and documentary “The American’s Creed.”

He added to his acting award wins in 2020 with the film, “The Cricket’s Dance” for which he shared a Best Ensemble Cast Award and several Best Film Awards. Those add to shared nominations in the Golden Globes, and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Drama Series for his work in, “In the Heat of the Night.”

The Grand Ole Opry guest star’s best-selling release, “Handshakes and Smiles” was a top twenty Christian music seller. Many of his albums were among the top 30 bluegrass recordings of their release year. He was the 2024 Inspirational Vocalist of the Year nominee and held the Cashbox Magazine #1 Song with “God’s Children” in February 2023.

His latest CD, “The American’s Creed,” features music from his film along with live Hollywood Hillbilly Jamboree performances, and historic recordings with him and Bill Monroe. Franks enlightens with his latest in his book series, “Encouragers III: A Guiding Hand.”
