OWENSBORO, Ky. — Frances Louise Jackson, 100, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at her home under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. The McLean County, Kentucky, native was born Feb. 11, 1924, as one of ten children to the late Josh Campbell and Flora Finn Campbell.

Frances lived on a farm much of her life which produced a great work ethic and self-sufficiency. She raised six children who grew up enjoying her excellent cooking. Frances was known for her full-course meals which were more like a buffet when she hosted family reunions. As a lover of family gatherings, she enjoyed going camping at their river camp on the Ohio River where they would sing and play old country music.

Frances worked for a dry cleaner for many years before her husband passed away. At 65, she secured her driver’s license and began cleaning homes for local doctors. She remained active almost until the day she passed away.

In addition to her parents, Frances also was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Jackson, and three children, Doris Proctor, William “Bud” West, and Paul West; grandson, Paul R. West.

Those left to cherish her memory include her surviving children, Norman West (Helene), of Evansville, Indiana, Brenda Hanley, of Houston, Arkansas, and Lou Ethel Dorris, of Hartford, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren and a slew of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Leuna Hibbs, of Radcliff, Kentucky, Dee Wood (Paul), of Louisville, Kentucky, and Tom Campbell (Linda), of Seymour, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at noon Monday, Oct. 28, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Frances’ caregivers, Kala Belcher and Chasity Kemper, and her compassionate hospice nurse, Taylor.
