LIVERMORE, Ky. — Donald E. Heifner, 77 of Livermore, passed away Oct. 22, 2024, in Evansville, Indiana. He was born Feb. 1, 1947, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Edward Heifner and Veola Crowe Heifner.
In 1967, he joined the US Air Force where he served as an administrative specialist with the 73rd Aerospace Surveillance Wing at Tyndale Air Force Base which supported the Lunar Mission Landing in 1969.
After leaving the military, he worked for Whirlpool for over 40 years. He was a member of the Woodwards Valley Baptist Church. He could be seen being shadowed by his Shih Tzu companion, Sunshine, as he walked the old Heifner homeplace that he had always hunted on.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George E. Heifner, and sister, Glenda Rudd.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Heifner (Malisa), Bryan Heifner (Shawn Heifner); daughter, Jennifer Heifner Cain (James); three grandchildren, Preston Heifner, Austin Moore, Ashley Payne (Jason); 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Joe Heifner (Marlene); several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Hartford Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Hartford Funeral Home with burial in the Woodwards Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
