In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Anna Claire Taylor; two brothers, Eugene and John Phelps; and sisters, Pauline Daugherty, Ann Bullock, Deloris Geary, and Sudie Pendley.
Lonnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joanna Embry Phelps; sons, Steven (Christine) Phelps, of Owensboro, Kentucky, Mark (Jody) Phelps, of Hartford, and Joseph (Angelic) Phelps, of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Tony (Kalin) Phelps, Sarai (Nathan) Taylor, Steven Phelps, Rebekah Phelps, April (Andrew) Salois, William Phelps, Miranda Phelps, Daniel Phelps, and Wendy (Jodi) Worthington Black; great-grandchildren, Alex Phelps, Judah Taylor, and Miriam Salois; brothers, J.C. (Janet) Phelps and Walter (Bonnie) Phelps; forever daughter, Kathy Ball; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Cedar Grove General Baptist Church in Olaton, Kentucky, with Bro. David Embry and Bro. Larry Embry officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Cedar Grove General Baptist Church. Visitors are requested to wear UK blue with ball caps permitted.
