William Carlyle ‘Carl’ Burton

HARTFORD, Ky. — William Carlyle “Carl” Burton, 91, of Hartford, passed away Sept. 27, 2024. Carl was loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and he will be dearly missed. He was born June 11, 1933 to the late Kenneth C. and Mary Annie Talley Burton.

Carl was a member of New Assembly Church. He served as a Deacon for 62 years. He was a bass singer for the Libertyaires Quartet for 17 years. Carl worked for Hartford Building and Supply, Montpelier Glove Company, was a custodian at Ohio County Middle School for 10 years, and was a farmer. Carl enjoyed coon hunting and loved everybody.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, James William Burton; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Jo McKinney; brother, Kay Burton; and sister, Carolyn Burton.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 73 years, Ermal Dean Burton; son, James C. Burton (Robin); daughters, Carol D. Burton Ferguson (Carlis), Marilyn B. Burton Hester ( Rhodes), Shirley G. Burton Render (Nick); eight grandchildren, Stephanie Robbins (Shannon), Hollie Brown (Adam), Amy Rager (Jerry), Karen (Ryan-deceased) Sandefur, Blake Render (Sarah), Scotty Frames (Melinda), Haley Harris (Thomas) and Nathan Burton (Haleigh); 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Bro. David Embry and Bro. Larry Embry officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 29, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Sunnydale Cemetery.
