HARTFORD, Ky. — Wanda M. Warren, 85, of Hartford, passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, with her family by her side under the care of Hospice of Ohio County. She was born Feb. 4, 1939, in Grayson County, Kentucky, to the late Bethel Higgs and Elizabeth Stone Higgs.
Mrs. Warren was retired from Peabody Coal Company and a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James E. “Jim” Warren, on Sept. 26, 2022; an infant son; two grandchildren, Amy Keys and Justin Robinson; one brother, Ellis Higgs; and two sisters, Darlene and Genevia.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory are five children, Denise (Randy) Vaughn, of Hartford, Tina Warren (Micky) Boone, of Hartford, Lisa Jo Warren Stratton, of Frankfort, Kentucky, Vicki Warren Cohron Christison, of Henderson, Kentucky, Todd Edward (Debra) Warren, of Ohio; 15 grandchildren, Jeremy Byrum, Jamie Vaughn, Drew Vaughn, Tyler Boone, Chase Boone, Mikala Boone, Karissa Boone, Misty Baker, Bruce Stratton, Gregory Stratton, Keisha Robinson, Tanesa Cohron, Einar Sterling, Marissa Eye, and James Logan Warren; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Tony Higgs; one sister-in-law, Betty Higgs; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Jerid Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mrs. Warren’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
