Flood Watch issued for Ohio County

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Ohio County. The Flood Watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. In addition, the NWS has also issued a Wind Advisory for Ohio County for tomorrow into Saturday morning.

According to the NWS, the remnants of Helene will impact our region through the weekend, most notably early Friday through Friday night. Widespread rainfall between 3 and 5 inches and gusty winds as high as 35 to 45 mph will be possible with the highest gusts across north-central Kentucky into southern Indiana.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Forecast rainfall amounts range from 3 to 5 inches with some areas potentially receiving up to 6 inches.
