HARTFORD, Ky. — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wesley Clay Baird, a beloved member of the Hartford community. Wesley was born on March 10, 1940, in Cromwell, Kentucky, and peacefully departed on Sept. 19, 2024.

A dedicated farmer and carpenter by trade, Wesley’s passion for agriculture and hard work were evident to all who knew him. Despite his humble beginnings, Wesley achieved the rank of E-3 and served his country with honor in the United States Army. In his younger years, he played the steel guitar and sang tenor with several gospel groups. His commitment to his community and his unwavering work ethic will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Clay Baird, Ethel Richeson, and siblings, Robert C. Baird, William Bruce Baird, Rex Lynn Baird, Martha Babbitt, and Betty Jean Baird.

He leaves behind his daughter, Deborah Andresen, and her husband, James; five grandchildren, Leah Bennett (Chris), Sara Hammons, and Brittany Felty, Jessica Andresen, Charity Andresen; 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Wilma Jung (Ralph); sister-in-law, Ann Baird; and many nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish his memory.

As we reflect on the legacy Wesley leaves behind, let us remember him for his warmth, his dedication, and the love he shared with all who knew him. May his spirit live on in the hearts of those he touched, and may his memory be a blessing to us all. Deborah, James, and family would like to thank his nurse Kendra and her mother Caryn for all the help and care they have given Wesley.

In memory of Wesley Clay Baird, graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
