HARTFORD, Ky. — It’s that time of year! Time for the 18th annual Ohio County Equestrian’s Friends in Fatih Benefit Horse and Mule Fun Show. The show kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Ohio County Park. The event will take place rain or shine.

Admission is $5 per car and donations will be accepted. A live auction will be held at 5 p.m. with all proceeds going to benefit OCE.

There are 25 classes with a $5 entry fee for each class or $25 for all day. All breeds are welcome. No alcohol is allowed on the premises. OCE is not responsible for theft, accidents or injuries. Negative Coggins and health papers are required.

OCE asks the public to come out, either as a competitor or an observer, and join them for an afternoon of fun. Concessions will be available, along with ribbons for the class winners. Your support means a great deal to OCE and the people they serve.

OCE is a non-profit organization providing equine therapy to children and adults with special physical, mental, and other challenges. The organization serves Ohio County and the surrounding area. OCE relies solely on private donations and the annual horse and mule fun show is the biggest fundraiser for them.

OCE’s primary expense lies in the care of their horses, which are the backbone of the service and organization. Without horses, OCE could not continue serving the disabled, elderly, and underprivileged individuals in our community.

Many organizations provide equine therapy, but OCE believes in providing recreational equestrian therapy without charging the riders. Their unpaid volunteer staff and existence rely solely on private donations.

OCE’s reach extends to special needs children in multiple school systems, including those in Ohio, McLean, Davies, and Muhlenberg Counties, as well as the surrounding communities. In addition, OCE serves clients in Ohio County and surrounding counties twice a week. Annually, OCE brings together all the special needs school systems for a day of celebration and competition, where every participant receives an award.

OCE also actively participates in various community events such as Hospice’s Day of Hope, events for senior citizens in rest homes, and the Day of Sobriety for those in recovery. Recently, OCE initiated a mentorship program for children in need of positive guidance.
