HARTFORD, Ky. — Virginia “Jenny” Campbell, 80, of Hartford, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, in Owensboro, Kentucky. The West Virginia-native was born Dec. 15, 1943, to the late Carson Edward Delawder and the late Myrtle Mae Tally Delawder.
On Sept. 25, 1976, Virginia, or “Jenny” as she was affectionately called, married Robert D. “Frog” Campbell.
Jenny was known for her compassionate heart and dedication to serving others as a nurse in the medical field. She finished her career as director of nursing at Carmel House. Throughout her life, Jenny touched the lives of countless patients, colleagues, and friends with her warm smile and healing touch. Her commitment to caring for others was evident in the gentle way she comforted those in need and the unwavering support she provided to her community.
Jenny will be remembered fondly for her selflessness, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her profession. Her legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her family.
Besides her parents and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, Freddie Holliday, an brother, Carson Edward Delawder.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Lotis Dale Campbell (Stacy), Markel James Campbell (Sarah); two daughters, Patricia Scott, Shari Heath; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Holliday; grandchildren, Paula Richardson, Virginia Gray (Robby), Adriane Watt (Justin), Keisha Dockery (James), Alex Campbell (Brittany), Leslie Stewart (Kenyun), LindaLou Campbell, and Gunner Wilcox; great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emma Richardson, Virginia RainleiAnn and Spencer Gray, Madi and Max Watt, Addison Dockery, Wesley and Rylee Campbell, Elizabeth Crowe, and Karlee and RayAnne Stewart.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Hartford Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 12 noon Monday, Sept. 2, at Hartford Funeral Home with burial in the Shown Cemetery.
