LEITCHFIELD, Ky. — Genevieve Woolen McCormick, 88, of Leitchfield, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, with her family at her side. Genevieve was born on March 30, 1936, in Horse Branch, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Alfred and Junie Payton Woolen.
She was a homemaker and a housewife who enjoyed working seek and find puzzles, reading her Bible, making quilts, and spending time with family.
Other than her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by both of her husbands, William Lee Poynter and Elliott McCormick; one son, Robert McCormick; two grandchildren, Chris Burba and Troy McCormick; one sister, Ella Mae Duncan, and five brothers, Jesse Lee, Billie, Denver, Donald, and Garland Woolen.
Genevieve is survived by one daughter, Marcella Stevenson, of Falls of Rough, Kentucky; and three sons, Don McCormick (Jean), “Little” Ron McCormick (Patina), both of Falls of Rough, and Ronnie Poynter, of Leitchfield. She is still survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law, with many of these sisters-in-law becoming some of her very best friends, and many, many nieces and nephews also survive along with seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Wayne Clemons will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
