FORDSVILLE, Ky. — Lonnie Edward Little, 94, of Fordsville, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Lonnie was born on June 4, 1930, in Langston, Alabama, to the late John and Ethel Shavers Little.
He was a steelworker at Calumet Steel for 25 years. As a young man, he tilled the fields with a mule team, which he enjoyed then and later in life. Lonnie enjoyed fishing, bowling, and antique cars, and was a member of the Antique Tractor Club. He was very proud of his Cherokee heritage. Lonnie served his country in the US Army as a member of the 11th Airborne.
In addition to his parents, Lonnie is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Ann Little, and his siblings, Wayne and John L. Little and Earline Lockard.
Lonnie is survived by his daughter, Belinda (Barry) Lynn; sons, Royce (Debbie) Little, of Wheeler, Indiana, and Wade (Donna) Little; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dot Kessler; a sister-in-law, Betty Littlel and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 29, at 1 p.m. at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, Kentucky, with burial following at Cates Cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 28 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, July 29 from 11 p.m. to 1 p.m.
