FALLS OF ROUGH, Ky. — Sherry Lynn Ford Bennett, 63, of Falls of Rough, and a long-time resident of Decatur, Alabama, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Jan. 9, 1961, in Hartford, Kentucky, to the late Tarrence L. “Pete” Ford and Betty Lou Ferry Ford.

Sherry was raised in Horse Branch, Kentucky, and graduated from Ohio County High School, where she was a member of the inaugural OCHS Lady Eagles basketball squad. Her skills on the court earned her many accolades, and a basketball scholarship to Western Kentucky University. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in industrial technology and drafting which led to her working as a residential designer, developing custom house plans.

Sherry was a devoted wife, loving mother, superlative grandmother, loyal friend, and fierce competitor. Her drive to excel and love of sports, architecture, and people led to a life that touched many others. Sherry loved to talk with anyone and learn what they loved, so she could encourage them to be their best. Her children often joked that no matter where she was in the world, she could find someone who knew someone she knew.

She leaves behind to cherish many precious memories, her husband of 40 years, Joey Bennett, of Falls of Rough; three children, John Ford (Mary Beth) Bennett, of Owensboro, Kentucky, Katelyn (Joel) Wasser, of Huntsville, Alabama, and Tanner (Rachel) Bennett, of Wicksburg, Alabama; and one brother, Marty (Jeannie) Ford, of Morganfield, Kentucky. Sherry was blessed with five grandchildren, Bess Bennett, Mac Bennett, Ford Bennett, Wells Bennett, and Mia Bennett, along with several nieces and nephews. She was known and loved by most as “Sherbear.”

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Hartford Christian Church (122 West Walnut St., Hartford, KY 42347) with Pastors Michael Sikes and Jamus Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in McGrady Creek Cemetery in Olaton. Friends may visit with Sherry’s family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at William L. Danks Funeral Home (222 N.
