CALHOUN, Ky. — Johnnie Mae Baird Howard, of Calhoun, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at her home. Johnie Mae Baird was born Sept. 7, 1932, McLean County, Kentucky, to the late John Clifton and Lela Louise Hayden Baird.
She was formerly married to Norman Dean Rafferty and later married Estill Clinton “Doodlebug” Howard on June 21, 1972. Johnnie Mae attended Livermore General Baptist Church and retired from the former McLean County General Hospital and enjoyed quilting and her flowers. Above all she was a full-time mother and caregiver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Estill Clinton “Doodlebug” Howard; son, Wayne Rafferty; great-granddaughter, Evie Hoover; stepson, Jeffrey Howard; stepdaughter, Bonnie Dickerson; sister, Bonnie Wills; and brothers, Wilford Baird and Jerry Baird.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Rafferty (Debbie), of St. Joseph, Kentucky, Mike (Tracy) Rafferty, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; daughter, Renia Hoover, of Calhoun; eight grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren; stepson, Dale Howard (Ann), of Calhoun; stepdaughter, Barbie Goodall (Jim), of Owensboro, Kentucky; and a brother, Darrell Baird (Sandy), of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Johnnie Mae’s family from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at Musters in Calhoun.
