HARTFORD, Ky. — The Ohio County Water District has issued a Boil Water Advisory for its customers in the areas of Prentiss Road between Cool Springs Road and Patterson Road, Carolyn Ln., Prentiss Ln., and Burgess Ln.
According to the OCWD, distribution crews are making an emergency repair on a water main along Prentiss Road between Cool Springs and Patterson Rd. The repair should be completed in the next few hours. A boil water advisory has been issued out of precaution for around 50 customers in the area of Prentiss Road between Cool Springs Road and Patterson Road, Carolyn Ln., Prentiss Ln., and Burgess Ln.
When the OCWD experiences pressure drops below 20 psi, its system becomes vulnerable to bacteria from groundwater or dirt seeping into the pipe and affecting the water supply. That is why the OCWD issues a boil water advisory for a water main break.
As a precautionary measure, all water used for drinking or food preparation should be brought to a rolling boil for three minutes. This advisory has been issued out of caution and affected customers will be notified when it is lifted.
