ROGERSVILLE, Ala. — Wendell J. Green, 58, of Rogersville, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama. Wendell J. Green was born April 5, 1966, in McLean County, Kentucky, to the late J.D. and Bessie Evelyn Atkinson Green and was married to the former Anna Kay Michels on Oct. 7, 2018.
Wendell lived a life characterized by devotion to his family, a passion for his interests, and a deep-rooted faith.
Before retiring, Wendell was an auto mechanic, a trade that showcased his attention to detail and problem-solving skills. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who knew him personally and professionally.
Wendell’s interests were a reflection of his vibrant personality. An avid collector and restorer of Hot Wheels diecast cars, he found joy in the pursuit of these miniature treasures and was a member of several Hot Wheels enthusiast groups. His passion for classic rock music was more than a hobby; it was a soundtrack to his life and a source of much enjoyment. Wendell was also a man of faith, a member of the Pentecostal faith, who loved the Lord and lived his beliefs through his actions and interactions with others.
Above all, Wendell cherished the time spent with his family and friends. He was a constant presence at family gatherings, sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom. His love for his children and grandchildren was evident in every hug, every piece of advice, and every moment they spent together.
Wendell’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and faith. It is carried forward in the lives of those he touched and in the memories that will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends. As we say goodbye to Wendell, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man dearly loved.
Wendell grew up surrounded by the love and support of a large and close-knit family. He is survived by his wife, Anna Green; a son, Grason J. Green; a daughter, Alisha Lankford (Bo) of Selmer, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Kaylynn and Caleb; two brothers, Rocky Green, of Luzerne, Kentucky, and Donald Green of Hartford, Kentucky; four sisters, Martrese Wilkins, Sherry Scott (David), both of Owensboro, Kentucky, Debbie Wilkins (Freddie Johnson), of Leitchfield, Kentucky, and Aleada Wilkins (Ronnie), of Owensboro; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Wendell J. Green’s life will be honored and remembered in a service reflecting his faith and the love he shared with all those around him. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Nickel Ridge Pentecostal Church in Daviess County, Kentucky. Burial will be in the Nickel Ridge Cemetery in Daviess County. Friends may visit with Wendell’s family from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel.
